Researchers say outsiders can rent access to White House IP addresses

Researchers say just about anyone can rent access to White House IP addresses today, according to The Verge. The outlet reports software on the presidential network is enabling residential proxy access for a few dollars, creating serious spoofing and abuse risks. Traffic laundered through those IPs could complicate attribution, fuel scams, evade platform bans, and undermine trust in official online activity.
The Verge cites security firms Layer3 Intel and Synthient, which detected residential proxy activity mapped to White House IP space during their analysis. KrebsOnSecurity and The Register also reported that access to those addresses appeared available on proxy marketplaces for only a few dollars. Watch for formal confirmation, takedown steps, and whether the White House or federal cyber agencies disclose how the software was installed and removed. [Developing. This article will be updated.]
