Android 17 QPR1 changes Pixel status bar icons in stable rollout

Google’s stable Android 17 QPR1 update is rolling out now with changes to some Pixel status bar icons, according to 9to5Google. Subtle shifts to core system symbols matter because the status bar is constantly visible and guides quick glances for signal, battery, and alerts. The tweaks land in a stable build rather than a beta, increasing the odds most Pixel users will notice them this month.

9to5Google characterizes the adjustments as unexpected for a maintenance release, arriving as part of the first Quarterly Platform Release for Android 17. QPR builds often bundle polish and fixes, and UI iconography updates can ripple into app screenshots, help docs, and user training. Watch for Google’s official changelog, screenshots of the revised icons, and reports on which Pixel models see the changes first. [Developing. This article will be updated.]
